Need help finding one I like
Published on September 27, 2007 By RAMWolff In OS Customization
Hiya, I really like the object bar these days but I'm finding that I don't like the skin. It's the default Vista skin and it's rather droll. I tried using the Skin program to change it to something I like better but I messed it up. The skin is the right color but the Widgets like the Search, Weather and other are no longer the right size and I didn't match their recoloring perfectly so I have this mess here. It's not hideous but it's not what I want either. I wish there were a way to grab the edges of the widgets and drag them to the right or left or center them or even resize them a bit so they fit better. I've tried restarting the bar but it's not recentering them and it looks "off" now.   So I'm open to just finding a decent skin to replace the whole thing. I like greens. I love this green: #586542 it's kind of a green with a bit of yellow in it. It's very calming to my eyes. Sorry this is one run together paragraph, I'm writing this in the Stardock browser! Thanks for your help. Richard

[Ctrl]-M will insert breaks in that browser.

Sorry to hear about your widget color and size issues.  One of the great things about OB is that it can use seperate DX widgets . . but it also means that they are seperate entities.  You can always right click on a DX object and choose properties and then hue shift to the color you want.  That might help some.  This also might be a good time to get into DX object building yourself.  Resizing images isn't too hard (you can do quick and dirty resizing on the summary tab of an object).

Another thing you can try is, if you are using a Windowblind you like, set OB to use that skin.  The menu panels seem to work best for me.

Finding the perfect skin is hard sometimes and sometimes it's easier to make your own.  There is some documentation here for rolling yoru own: https://www.stardock.com/products/objectbar/docs/

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll have to see how time is for figuring all this stuff out as I'm pretty busy. I did manage to figure out changing the colors by right clicking before I got your reply. Seems easy enough. I just figured that there were so many Windowblind skins that there would be as many for the other things.. guess not. Oh well. I'll live. Thanks again....
