A place to show what ever I decide to show. Don't know just yet what that will be!
Is there a fix for this?
Published on December 26, 2007 By RAMWolff In
Hiya, Writing from Stardock Central so this will all probably run together. Sorry about that. Ummmm... so I love my virtual desktops, I need them actually since I do graphics works. I'm waiting on my second monitor to arrive and may be able to do without using them so much but wanted some tips, fixes or ideas about what could be going on with the wallpaper. I'm running the newest version of Virtual Desktops and I'm running an up to date version of XP Pro. I have 3 VT's and when I click on the 2nd and 3rd ones they are functioning as the apps I have running on them changes but the wallpaper is the same as the 1st desktop. I've tried resetting them and changing the wallpaper but it makes no difference. Please help if you can. Thanks so much. Richard ~

OK, I guess there is no helping. No offense to those that want to help but Stardock, as usual, does not come through with any help or at least admitting there is a bug that needs to be tended to. I'm sure they were business as usual for at least Thursday and Friday of last week and no one has come in here offering help. Support is practically non existant as usual. If there is another portal for asking for assistance then please post a reply. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for a virtual desktop solution then! I just love wasting money. It's so much fun!

Hi,

Thanks for the heads up when they will be back. I doubt they will be back on the 1st since that's New Years day but I imagine they will be back on the 2nd like most businesses. I may be wrong but I'm not even going back on the 1st. Heck no and I don't even drink!!

My Display options are as follows:

Use the custom wallpapers of the active virtual desktop as your desktop's wallpaper (unchecked) was checked before, made no difference.

Use custom wallpapers as mini-backgrounds (checked)

Display desktop names (checked)

Display window replicas (checked) Sub: Display minimized windows with replicas (mode 1 only) (checked) Other two options (unchecked)

Thanks for the assistance.

If you are also running DesktopX or IconX, this could be why the screen isn't updating. I haven't tried the latest version of Stardock Virtual Desktop, but this was a problem in earlier versions. If you search the forums going back several years, you'll see this problem being reported by multiple people. I don't recall ever seeing a response from a stardock employee concerning this problem. So I took matters into my own hands:

I have a short developer diary of what I found out about SVD and IconX while trying to come up with a solution: https://forums.wincustomize.com/?aid=153026

And here is the applet that I made as a programmatic solution: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=1131&libid=34

I have no affiliation with stardock nor have I gotten any feedback/endorsement from them concerning this applet.
